Who Is This For

The Level 2 NVQ in Fenestration is aimed at individuals working in or aspiring to join the glazing and fenestration industry. It is ideal for apprentices, trainees or experienced professionals who want to develop and formalise their skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of windows, doors and other related products. This qualification is suited for those looking to demonstrate their competence, enhance their career opportunities and gain a nationally recognised certification in the fenestration sector.

Mandatory Units

Learners must complete the four mandatory units (15 credits)

  • Communicating and Working with Others in the Glass and Related Working Environments
  • Identify and Confirm Installation Requirements in Glass and Related Work
  • Locate, Transport, Handle and Position and Materials and Components in Fenestration Installation
  • Maintain Health and Safety in the Fenestration Installation Working Environment

Optional Units

Learners must choose additional units to make up the remaining 25 credits for this NVQ

  • Group A – Install Glass and/or Panels into Windows and Doors (4 credits) 

    Group A – Prepare and Position Window and Door Units Ready for Installation (3 credits)

    Group A – Prepare and Shape Fenestration Installation Products and Materials (5 credits)

    Group A – Prepare the Site, Equipment and Tools for Fenestration Installation (4 credits)

    Group A – Remove Existing Windows and Doors and Prepare Apertures (8 credits)

    Group B – Install Windows and Doors (8 credits)

    Group C – Post Windows, Doors or Conservatories Installation Activity (3 credits)

    Group D – Knowledge of building regulations in the installation of windows and doors (4 credits)

How You Will Learn

All NVQs from the UK Skills Academy lead to a Blue, Gold, or Black CSCS card. Which is the certification that allows you to show your employer that you are qualified and have the knowledge and expertise to conduct yourself on-site in a safe and responsible manner. CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do on-site.

Duration

Our NVQs are flexible to work around you and the trade you are currently working in. You will be registered for 8-10 weeks and your assessor will collect a range of evidence from your workplace, work with you on assessments and will require your knowledge workbook to be completed in the first 4 weeks.
