Who Is This For

A Level 2 NVQ in Wood Preserving & Damp Proofing is ideal for those already working or starting out in the building preservation industry. It’s designed for tradespeople such as damp proofing technicians, timber treatment specialists, or general construction workers who carry out preservation and protection work on buildings. This qualification allows learners to prove their competence on site, gain industry-recognised certification and progress their career within the construction and property maintenance sectors.

Mandatory Units

Learners must complete the five mandatory units

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Installing insulation to cold roofs in the workplace
  • Insulation and Building Treatments, Building Construction, Defects and Interfaces
 

Optional Units

Learners can choose to take additional units but they do not form part of the core qualification

  • Develop Customer Relationships
  • Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace

How You Will Learn

All NVQs from the UK Skills Academy lead to a Blue, Gold, or Black CSCS card. Which is the certification that allows you to show your employer that you are qualified and have the knowledge and expertise to conduct yourself on-site in a safe and responsible manner. CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do on-site.

Eligibility

Duration

Our NVQs are flexible to work around you and the trade you are currently working in. You will be registered for 8-10 weeks and your assessor will collect a range of evidence from your workplace, work with you on assessments and will require your knowledge workbook to be completed in the first 4 weeks.

CITB Registered?

You could be eligible to receive up to 70% funding if you are registered with CITB.
