CITB Skills & Training Fund Closing 30 September 2025

Major Changes to CITB Funding: Skills & Training Fund Closing September 2025

Employers and learners urged to act now to secure full funding before deadline

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has announced significant changes to its funding structure, with the Skills & Training Fund officially closing on 30 September 2025. From October, funding will only be available through Employer Networks (ENs), which will typically cover up to 70% of training costs rather than the 100% currently available.

For years, the Skills & Training Fund has provided vital support to construction employers, fully funding essential upskilling and qualifications. These upcoming changes will significantly reduce the level of financial assistance available, meaning employers and learners need to act fast to maximise funding opportunities.

Key Changes to Be Aware Of

  • Final Deadline – Applications for the Skills & Training Fund must be submitted by 30 September 2025.

  • Level 2 Awards – The current £600 grant per learner for certain Level 2 Awards will drop to £240 from September.

  • Payment Terms
Before 1 September 2025: Funding paid upfront
From 1 September 2025: Funding only released upon completion

  • Industry Accreditation Grant Uplift Ending Early – Complete NVQs by 31 December 2025 to secure enhanced funding before grants revert to £600.

  • New Online Portal Launching – From 24 September 2025, a modernised platform will allow employers to apply for grants online, track application progress, and manage accounts more easily.

Why Acting Now Matters

Learners and employers who apply before the 30 September deadline can still:

  • Access full funding for training and qualifications

  • Secure upfront payments

  • Maximise grant support before rates drop

Delaying could mean missing out on hundreds of pounds in funding and facing reduced financial assistance in the future.
